p1: A modern office park. Two people - a person with a bag and a woman with an umbrella, walk down a flight of stairs towards offices. There is a dynamic-looking walkway across the top of the frame. The scene looks clean, lush and green.
To make any new product, first you need a design. This design work can happen anywhere, but Shenzhen is becoming a source of innovation in its own right. We visited a new makerspace in Futian district to better understand how design is done in Shenzhen.
p2: Top-down view of a makerspace. There are big laser cutter machines with tubes coming out of them, workbenches with scattered tools, shelves with parts along the back, and tables with a 3D printer and a robot arm.
This makerspace is co-funded by the Chinese government and a local real estate developer. The space aims to encourage and showcase Shenzhen's innovation potential.
p3: Close up view of the young woman representing the makerspace. She has a blue dress and glasses perched on top of her forehead.
Representative: "Anyone with a project can apply and get access to our tools!"
